I need to look into some security plugins for WordPress sites. Some of the plugins on my list to check out are:

  7. Chap Secure Login – 6,111 downloads; Last update 2010-01-06
  8. Anonymous WordPress Plugin – 2,191 downloads; Last update 2007-10-11
  9. Login Encrypt – 1,654 downloads; Last update 2007-08-16
  10. AskApache Password Protect – 40,350 downloads; Last update 2009-09-11
  11. WP-SpamFree Anti-Spam – 442,725 downloads; Last update 2010-02-11

Some plugins that can be used to monitor and/or manage your website include:

I typically will not consider plugins that do not have a wide user base, but I wanted to target security specific plugins and included most of the ones that I have heard about over time.

I will be looking into each of these over the next few weeks.

PLUGIN: Reveal IDS for WP Admin

With WordPress 2.5 being released, the IDs on all admin pages have been removed as it is. Propably due to the fact that the common user dont need them. However, for advanced WordPress Users/ developers those IDs were quite interesting for some plugins or template tags.

What Reveal IDs WP Admin does is to reveal most removed entry IDs on admin pages, showing the entry IDs, as it was in versions prior to 2.5 Read More→

PLUGIN: Page Link Manager

Page Link Manager is a WordPress plugin that adds an administration panel that allows you to pick which page links are included in your site’s navigation. Adding it to your WordPress installation is as easy as ever.

PLUGIN: Page Links To

Page Links To is a plugin that allows you to make a WordPress page or post link to a URL of your choosing, instead of its WordPress page or post URL. It also will redirect people who go to the old (or “normal”) URL to the new one you’ve chosen (301 Moved Permanently redirects are standard, but you can choose a 302 Moved Temporarily redirect if you wish).

This functionality is useful for setting up navigational links to non-WordPress sections of your site or to off-site resources.

You can also use it to create a hand-crafted menu that links to pages, posts, categories, or anything within your site.
